Visual Merchandising Manager (Freelance)

We are looking for a Visual Merchandising Manager to join our New York based headquarters to help us expand into retail stores.

The Visual Merchandising Manager will be a key member of the Merchandising team, responsible for translating the seasonal product strategy into a world-class, omni-channel shopping experience that aligns with Merchandising and Brand strategies and initiatives, ultimately driving sales, traffic, and conversion.  Under the direction of the Director of Merchandising, this person will oversee the ideation and execution of all product launches, seasonal newness, campaigns, and special events in pop-up locations, shop-in-shops, and/or retail stores. Additionally, the Visual Merchandising Manager will work with the core Merchandising team to monitor sales performance across all categories and deliver actionable insights for sales optimization. We are seeking someone with excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure consistency in strategy and messaging while working with cross functional partners including Merchandising, Brand, Marketing, Planning, and Operations.


  • Partner with Director of Merchandising to create an overall Visual Merchandising process including calendars and deliverables
  • Partner alongside Director of Merchandising and eCommerce Merchandising Manager to translate and synchronize seasonal product strategy into a compelling customer journey and visual merchandising strategy across all channels
  • Create seasonal Visual Merchandising guide for use across physical retail locations (pop-ups, shop-in-shops, full retail stores, and/or wholesale stores) inclusive of window, surface, wall, and mannequin features with style/color distortions in support of launches, seasonal newness, campaigns, and special events
  • Partner with Brand team to generate creative collateral (signage, navigation, windows, etc.) to support launches, seasonal newness, campaigns, and special events
  • Set up and lead pre-Go Live floorset walk-thrus with executive leadership and key stakeholders
  • Cascade Visual Merchandising strategy to field teams; Verify execution via photo/video and store visits and assess opportunities for improvement
  • Deliver weekly and seasonal recaps based on data, observations, and field team feedback with actionable insights to optimize sales on daily, weekly, quarterly, seasonal basis
  • Develop testing strategies to drive product performance, customer engagement, and conversion
  • Build understanding of how Brand and Marketing activities and initiatives impact customer behavior and engagement inside the store
  • Key partner in new store expansion strategy
  • Improve presentation results by evaluating and redesigning floor plans, flow strategies, and display techniques; studying, evaluating, and re-designing display procedures; implementing changes
  • Identify future visual enhancements/needs including fixtures, technology, lighting, navigation, signage by shopping competitor’s stores to identify trends and opportunities attending educational workshops and trade shows; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
  • Partner with cross-functional Merchant team to communicate customer demand/feedback for product
  • This is a freelance position that has the potential to become a full-time position


  • BA/BS degree in Merchandising, Design, Marketing, or related field
  • 4-6 years of work experience in Visual Merchandising in the Fashion/Apparel industry
  • 2-3 years of people management experience in a similar capacity
  • Strong organizational and cross-functional management skills with extreme attention to detail 
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, and prioritize and reprioritize as necessary
  • Ambitious, self-starter with a passion for the consumer, ensuring a best in class customer journey
