Tommy John is a dual gender lifestyle brand focused on Men’s & Women’s underwear, intimates, sleep, and lounge. We are DTC-driven through our owned and operated brand e-Commerce business. We are undergoing transformation to multi-channel distribution, including Wholesale expansion while remaining on a mission to add smart, innovative, and fun-loving team members to the organization. We are looking for a Senior Technical Designer to come join our New York based headquarters. Our HQ Office is in Lower Manhattan and our teams are on-site 3 days per week.
Position Overview
Reporting to the VP Supply the Sr Technical Designer will work directly with existing factories and be responsible for developing innovative concepts through commercialization and bulk production. This individual will also work closely with the Design Team to coordinate sampling timelines and new product launch calendars. This position requires an entrepreneurial spirit and great work ethic as our work environment changes daily. We are looking for a highly detailed, self-starting individual, with solid Technical skills as well as product experience in the apparel space

Primary Responsibilities
- Work with the VP, Supply and Technical Design Team to establish company fit, size ranges, grading, and construction standards.
- Execute design vision while ensuring exceptional fit and construction quality.
- Lead fittings and document detailed, accurate notes.
- Create and maintain comprehensive tech packs including sketches, construction details, fit comments, specs, tolerances, and grading.
- Measure and evaluate garments from proto samples through TOP production
- Revise and create patterns; review and recommend adjustments for molded components such as plastic shots and bra cups.
- Develop technical sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
- Maintain libraries of approved samples, construction standards, specs, block patterns, and style patterns.
- Manage vendor communication and tracking to ensure deadlines and on-time delivery.
- Prioritize workload and manage timelines effectively.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical Design teammates, Product Development, and vendors.
- Bachelor's Degree in Patternmaking or Technical Design
- 6+ years Technical Design Experience in bras and intimate apparel
- Strong understanding of body fit, flat specs, fabric/trim stretch, sizing, grading, and construction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead fittings and document results with precision.
- Knowledge of patternmaking, pad development, and industry fit standards.
- Proven ability to manage priorities, delegate tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
- Passion for sewing, construction, and achieving best-in-class fit and clean design.
- Team-oriented; prior experience managing others is a plus.

- Ability to work on-site at our Lower Manhattan HQ three days per week.
